Duxford Visit Leaves Lasting Impact

Duxford Visit Leaves Lasting Impact

Students from the Priory Special School showed an ongoing positive effect after visiting the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, with improved behaviour and better information retention.

Over the past three years, a variety of year groups have visited Duxford, where museum staff work sensitively with students who have limited social skills or behavioural and emotional difficulties. Most recently, Year 6 visitors have focused on thinking skills, which enabled them to demonstrate the forces involved in flight six months later.

Tailored programmes, including special flight days, help students acquire appropriate social and independent skills, while making education motivational, inspirational and enjoyable.
