Extended Services
Not so much re-inventing... as continuing the good work.
Most museums and archives are already offering extended schools activities: family workshops and holiday activities are just two examples. More opportunities are arising to work with a mixture of age groups- a formula which could supprt primary to secondary school transition projects. Recent MLA East of England pilot projects with Essex and Bedfordshire County Councils are indicating that when museums work with extended schools there is the potential to raise standards of attainment, and school staff are quick to show commitment to support the project. New partnerships in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk are developing volunteering opportunities across their counties.
